Strap for 1950-2 Stainless Steel / Silver / Black Leather

The Archimede 1950's UA8068P-A3.1 features a lug width of 20mm. This is the distance between the mounting points on the case lugs where the strap attaches. Precise compatibility with aftermarket straps depends on this measurement; even minor variations result in excessive play or mounting difficulty.

Given the minimalist and instrumental character of the model, we recommend a strap in vegetable-tanned leather in cognac or dark brown with medium grain texture, or a NATO strap in tortora grey. Both solutions preserve the functional 1950s aesthetic. For sports use, a grey anthracite rubber strap with radial tread is appropriate. Avoid highly polished leathers or synthetics, which would contradict the watch's constructive quality.

Strap replacement is accomplished by removing the spring bars (pins) that connect the strap to the case lugs. Obtain a spring bar tool. Insert the flat tip into the pin seat, apply downward pressure to release tension, then extract the pin. Repeat on both sides. Mount the new strap in reverse, ensuring the pin fully seats in both lugs.

A quality artisanal strap in vegetable-tanned leather typically lasts 3–5 years under regular daily use. Longevity depends on exposure to perspiration, water, direct sunlight and cleaning frequency. NATO and rubber straps tend to last longer. Vegetable-tanned leather naturally develops patina over time—a positive aesthetic sign of ageing—whilst gradually losing elasticity until failure point.
