Handmade in Italy Recycled polyester

Not all nylons are created equal. This one is made from recycled plastic bottles: a material that carries a story even before it's worn.

The two-piece military cut—classic in its architecture, precise in its execution—gives the wrist that uncompromising solidity that distinguishes a functional strap from a merely decorative one. The black is flat, compact, without unnecessary reflections. It doesn't seek attention: it commands it.

For those who choose with awareness without compromising on build quality. The eco-friendly material is not a compromise—it is both a technical and a value-based choice.

WHAT WE DID

Milano Straps, always sensitive to the issue of sustainability and the ways in which a luxury product should be produced and distributed, has decided, in its small way, to contribute to the growth of an Eco-Luxury Positive economy.

Recently launched, the MSLabStraps line is a new series of eco-friendly NATO fabric straps made by recycling post-consumer plastic bottles collected in Northern Italy.

From one recycled plastic bottle, two MSLabStraps NATO straps are made.

Through a mechanical, non-chemical recycling process that is 100% Made in Italy certified throughout its fully traceable supply chain, the plastic from the bottles is shredded and transformed into high-quality, high-performance recycled polyester yarns for textile use.

The production of 1 kg of Newlife®, for the same quantity of virgin polymer, allows a reduction in energy consumption of 60%, CO2 emissions of 32%, and water consumption of 94%.

Domande Frequenti

But does this recycled nylon really hold up over time, or is it one of those things that degrades after six months?

The recycled nylon here is not an environmental compromise — it's a technical choice. It comes from plastic bottles already subjected to stress, so selection is rigorous. What reaches the strap is material that has already proven its resistance. The flat black you see has no finishing treatments that wear away: it's the color of the material itself. If you use it as a military piece should be used, you won't find degradation — you'll find patina.

Two pieces means it comes apart? How does it work technically?

Yes, it's the classic military architecture: two nylon strips that overlap around the watch. It's not a hinge — it's solidity without movement. The two-piece construction returns wrist stability because it distributes tension. It's precise in execution: you won't feel sloppiness.

How bulky is it? I have a small wrist and certain NATO military straps can be seen from three meters away.

The profile is essential — not minimalist for fashion, but for function. The compact black without useless reflections helps visually. On the feeling of bulk though: it depends on the watch and the wrist. I can't give you a measurement because it's not here, but the two-piece military design was born on service wrists, not on display cases. If your watch is light and the wrist proportioned, hold tight: there's no fake visual diet here.

Is the black truly black, or does it have that gray shading that makes everything look dirty?

It's flat, compact, without useless reflections. It doesn't pursue the shiny black of cheap plastic. It's the black of recycled nylon, dense — it lives with natural light without seeking attention. If you're thinking gray-dirty, you're thinking of oily materials. This isn't that.

If I don't use it for months, does the recycled nylon stiffen or stay soft as it is now?

That's a good question because nylon has memory. The recycled kind, having already been stressed in a previous life, tends to stabilize. Don't expect it to go rigid like a rope — it maintains character. But the real answer is that a military strap isn't a piece for a drawer: it's designed for continuity. If you leave it sitting for three months, you'll have a smaller surprise than you think.
