Handmade in Italy Selected leathers

Canvas and leather don't meet by chance. This strap is born from the combination of two materials with opposing characteristics: the dense and resistant woven texture of military green canvas, and the structured softness of the brown leather that forms the backing and the loops. The result is a strap that brings something closer to equipment than ornamentation to the wrist.

The ecru thread stitches the two materials together with regular and visible stitches — not a decorative detail, but the signature of handmade craftsmanship that endures over time. The canvas absorbs light, the leather reflects it: the pair works precisely because the two materials are not alike.

Suitable for sports watches, vintage reissues, and field watches. It finds its natural logic on matte steel, bronze, or green PVD cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does canvas tend to fray at the edges with daily use?

The canvas used by Milano Straps is edge-treated and secured by perimeter stitching in ecru thread, which prevents fraying over time. With regular use the material compacts slightly, acquiring an even more solid consistency. This is normal behaviour for technical fabric, not a defect.

Is this strap suitable for use in humid environments or outdoors?

Canvas handles occasional moisture and light outdoor environments well — it is its natural vocation. The brown leather on the back requires the same care as any leather: it is best to avoid prolonged immersion and to air dry if wet. It is not a diving strap, but for exploration? Yes.

Which case width does the 20mm lug width work best with? Does it make sense to mount it on a 36mm watch?

The 20mm lug width pairs perfectly with cases between 38mm and 42mm, where canvas has the right presence without overwhelming the dial. On a 36mm it works equally well, especially if one is seeking a more vintage and sartorial effect — typical of the 1960s and 1970s field watches from which this strap draws its visual inspiration.

How does this model differ from a full leather strap in the same colour?

Full leather offers more formal wearability and a patina that evolves uniformly over time. Canvas, on the other hand, introduces a visually broken texture and a more casual, military character, with an initial rigidity that progressively yields. The two materials also differ in behaviour: canvas does not absorb skin oils and retains its colour longer.
