Strap for Defy El Primero 21 Titanium / Silver Panda / Bracelet

The Zenith Defy 95.9001.9004/01.M9000 features a lug width of 23mm. This non-standard dimension reflects Zenith's design philosophy of rejecting conventional specifications. Measurement is taken from the base of the case to the inside of the opposite lug.

Selection depends on intended purpose. For formal elegance: brown or black alligator. For sophisticated contrast: deep blue shell cordovan. For sport utility: FKM rubber or military nylon. Ensure the strap is specifically sized for 23mm lugs to guarantee flawless fitment without lateral play.

Use a Spring bar tool or dedicated watch strap remover. Locate the small metal pin (Spring bar) securing the strap to the 23mm lugs. Press the pin gently inward toward the case to release the old strap. Insert the new 23mm strap, aligning the holes with the lugs, then release the pin until you hear a secure click.

Not recommended. A 22mm strap will create lateral play on the 23mm lugs, compromising stability and wearing experience. Zenith deliberately selected 23mm lugs for precise fitment. Always choose straps specifically sized for 23mm to ensure proper attachment without tolerances.

A high-quality natural leather strap (alligator, shell cordovan, or vegetable-tanned calf) typically lasts 2–4 years with daily wear, depending on replacement frequency and care. Sun exposure, perspiration, and humidity accelerate deterioration. Proper maintenance—periodic cleaning and conditioning with specialised creams—significantly extends longevity.
