No. The bracelet is integrated into the case with proprietary Maltese Cross lugs: a standard strap simply has no way to attach. It is a deliberate construction choice, not a flaw — but it requires a completely different approach. In the atelier, I build every strap directly on the watch, made to measure.

I work by appointment only at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, study the geometry of the lugs and shape the inserts by hand to respect the original language of the case. There are no templates: every piece is built from scratch, on the watch in front of me.

I prefer Barenia. It is a leather that ages with character, develops a personal patina over time and holds up to the dual nature of this watch — sporting but never coarse. For those who want something more structured, Mississippi alligator is my second choice: its texture works well with the hexagonal bezel without overpowering the case.

With quality leather and ordinary care, I count on at least five or six years of regular use. Leather should not get wet, should be left to dry away from heat sources and occasionally conditioned with a suitable product. The beauty of genuine leather is that it ages — and in ageing, it tells a story.

Vacheron Constantin built the Overseas in 1996 as a direct response to the new generation of refined sport watches. The hexagonal bezel and integrated bracelet with the Maltese Cross motif are not decoration: they are an architectural signature that runs consistently from lug to clasp. I have seen many watches on the bench, but few have this continuity of language between case and bracelet.
