The Overseas 4605V/200A-B971, seen from the bench

The Overseas Automatic 35 Stainless Steel features a 35mm stainless steel case with integrated bracelet and semi-circle motif inspired by the Maltese Cross, designed by Jörg Hysek in 1996. This Vacheron Constantin travel watch combines Geneva watchmaking tradition with sports versatility. The model comes with a bespoke strap service through Atelier Casati Milano, handcrafted to match the integrated attachment geometry using premium leather selections including Mississippi alligator, naturally aged Barenia, and vegetable-tanned Tuscan leather.

Frequently asked questions

Can a standard strap be fitted to the Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4605V/200A-B971?

No. The bracelet is integrated directly into the case, with a proprietary attachment that does not accept standard straps. There is no conventional lug width to work with. The only proper solution is a bespoke strap, built from the actual geometry of the watch.

How does the bespoke strap service work for this model?

I work exclusively by appointment, at my Casati Milano atelier, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I take measurements directly from the case at the workbench. Only this way can the end piece integrate seamlessly with the fluid architecture of the Overseas.

Which leather do I recommend for this Overseas?

I go for naturally aged Barenia. The Overseas has a sporting character but with an underlying Genevan refinement, and Barenia reflects exactly that dual nature. Over time it develops a warm patina that works beautifully against the steel case. It is the leather I prefer when a watch needs to work equally well travelling and at dinner.

How long does a well-made artisan strap last?

With quality leather and minimal care, I have seen straps last seven, ten years without losing their character — in fact they improve. Keep them away from prolonged exposure to water and condition the leather occasionally with a neutral product. Ageing is not a flaw: it is proof that the leather is genuine and that the strap has been worn.

Who designed the Overseas and what makes its bracelet distinctive?

The Overseas was designed by Jörg Hysek in 1996. Its bracelet features a semicircular motif inspired by the Maltese Cross, a historic symbol of Vacheron Constantin. It is a fluid, coherent architecture where every element depends on the others. That is precisely why a bespoke end piece must respect it, not overlook it.
