For the 53020-0055, we recommend straps in alligator (regular texture and natural suppleness), regenerated calf (versatile elegance), or vegetable-tanned leather (patina that ages magnificently). Medium brown (cognac, tan) is the most fitting colour choice that honours the spirit of the model, whilst polished black offers maximum versatility. NATO straps are advisable only if you deliberately intend to transition to a casual-sports aesthetic.

To change the strap, you must extract the suspension pins (spring bars) from the watch lugs. A specific tool (spring bar tool) is required to gently depress the pin from one side whilst keeping the other end secure. Align the strap's lugs with the watch pins and reinsert the pin into the lug seat. Ensure the pin is fully seated and clicks into place. The process requires patience and appropriate tools: if uncertain, consult a qualified watchmaker.

The lifespan of a leather strap depends on intensity of use and tanning method employed. A regenerated calf or satin-finish leather strap typically resists 2–4 years of regular wear before showing significant signs of deterioration. Alligator and vegetable-tanned leather age more gracefully, developing a patina that can extend aesthetic appreciation to 5–6 years. High-quality artisanal straps, properly maintained and periodically revitalised, may last considerably longer. We recommend rotating straps to distribute wear and preserve the freshness of your watch's appearance.
