To change the strap, use a springbar remover—a small pointed metallic tool. Position the watch with the lugs facing towards you, insert the remover under the springbar's end, gently push towards the case centre to release tension, then remove the old strap. Repeat on the opposite side. To install the new strap, align the holes with the springs, push outward until you hear the click of closure on both sides.

A high-quality leather strap, such as vegetable-tanned alligator or natural calf, typically lasts 3-5 years with daily use, provided proper maintenance is observed. Constant exposure to moisture, direct heat, and perspiration accelerates deterioration. Lesser-quality calf treated industrially has a useful life of 2-3 years.
