To change the strap, you must remove the pins connecting the strap to the case. Use a spring bar tool to compress the internal spring of the pin and slide it downward. Extract the pin from the first lug, then flip the watch over and repeat for the second lug. Proceed in reverse to install the new strap, ensuring the pins are firmly secured.

A quality natural leather strap, if properly maintained, can last from 3 to 5 years of daily use, sometimes longer. Longevity depends on the quality of tanning, intensive use, and climatic conditions. Varied leathers such as shell cordovan tend to last longer due to greater fibre density. Patina and signs of wear are desirable characteristics that testify to the authenticity of the material.
