Position the watch on a soft surface (mouse pad or cotton cloth). Use a spring bar tool (small flat-tipped instrument) to gently depress the fixing pins laterally. Extract the pin from the lower seat, unfasten the old strap, and insert the new one, aligning it with the lugs. Press the pin into the new strap until it clicks fully into position.

Durability depends on material and usage. A vegetable-tanned calf strap lasts 3-5 years with moderate wear, developing a natural patina. Shell cordovan resists 10-15 years due to its dense fibrous structure. Alligator offers intermediate durability (6-8 years). Exposure to sweat, moisture and direct sunlight accelerates wear; regular maintenance with specialised hydrating creams extends lifespan.
