Strap for Chronograph 356 Sa GR

The Sinn 356.077 is fitted with a 20-millimetre lug width, the international standard for chronographs of this dimensional class. The lugs are 316L stainless steel with straight edges and approximately 3.5 mm depth, ideal for leather or rubber-structured straps.

For the 356.077, we recommend a strap in vegetable-tanned alligator or calf leather with natural patina development over time. Alternatively, a technical rubber deployante (FKM or butyl) represents the ideal solution for humid, operational, or tactical environments. Avoid light colours: satinised black or dark brown maintain the chronograph's aesthetic balance.

Strap replacement is carried out by removing the lug pins (spring bars). Locate the two opposite lugs, then insert a pin remover tool or flathead implement into the visible slot at the top of the lug. Gently push downward to compress the internal spring, then extract the pin. Repeat for the opposite lug, then align the new strap's holes with the pins and reinsert until they lock into place with an audible click.

Yes, you may use aftermarket straps provided they meet the 20 mm lug width specification and minimum 3.2 mm depth. Artisanal straps in vegetable-tanned leather or technical rubber often offer superior construction quality compared to Sinn's serial manufacturers, whilst maintaining full mechanical compatibility and providing greater aesthetic personalisation.

A vegetable-tanned leather strap exposed to moderate use (8–10 hours weekly) maintains structural integrity between 5 and 7 years. Longevity increases if exposed to low humidity and subjected to regular maintenance (treatment with natural wax every 18 months). An FKM rubber strap easily exceeds 10 years without visible degradation. Alligator, if protected from direct solar exposure, can reach 15 years of use before lug replacement is required.
