Alligator leather with deep tint and visible dorsal ridge creates the most compelling contrast against the satin-finished titanium. Alternatively, vegetable-tanned calf develops extraordinary amber patina over time. For marine or sporting contexts, FKM rubber provides complete water resistance whilst maintaining the watch's minimalist aesthetic.

The absence of a crown makes the Type 1N distinctive, yet strap replacement remains standard procedure. Use a spring bar tool to gently depress the spring bar on one side of the lug, lifting the old strap. Insert the new strap by passing one end through first, then the other, ensuring the spring bar is fully seated and locked.

A correctly measured 20mm strap is compatible, provided the Type 1N's lug depth sits within standard tolerances. It is advisable to verify with the retailer prior to purchase, particularly when selecting artisanal brands which may exhibit slightly differing construction tolerances from conventional standards.

Lifespan depends on tanning quality and usage patterns. Premium alligator or vegetable-tanned calf lasts between 3 and 5 years under daily wear, developing enchanting patina in the process. Leather exposed to excessive humidity or prolonged UV radiation ages more rapidly. Minimal maintenance, such as applying colourless balm every 6–12 months, significantly extends strap longevity.
