No. The bracelet is integrated directly into the rose gold case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The attachment is proprietary and requires bespoke craftsmanship. In the atelier I build each piece on the physical watch, never from theoretical measurements.

I work exclusively through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, my atelier at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan, by appointment only. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case and shape the attachment by hand until the integration feels right. I do not send templates: every detail is decided by looking at the piece together.

For this Nautilus I prefer natural Barenia calf in warm tones — a golden beige or a mature cognac that converses with the warmth of rose gold without overpowering it. Barenia ages with a living patina that reflects use, and it suits the Nautilus character: sporting at heart, refined in form. Mississippi alligator is a more structured alternative, and I suggest it when a client wants a more formal register.

With a quality leather and basic care, I count on ten years of regular use, sometimes more. The key is keeping the strap away from prolonged exposure to water and letting it dry in open air after a demanding day. Good leather does not deteriorate: it develops a patina, shifts in tone, and acquires character. It is an active ageing, not a decline.

Gérald Genta designed the Nautilus in 1976 as a single architectural block — case, lugs and bracelet share one unified logic of form. On this 32mm rose gold model every element is calibrated on precise proportions, and any addition that breaks that geometry shows immediately. When I work on this piece, respect for those original proportions is the first constraint I set myself.
