No. The bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there is no standard lug to attach a conventional strap. The attachment geometry is proprietary and requires a bespoke approach. In the atelier I build the strap on the watch itself, starting from the actual case.

I prefer Mississippi Alligator with a large scale. The Nautilus has a dual character — sporting in shape, elegant in materials — and alligator holds both sides without compromising either. It ages with personality rather than fading over time. For those who want something that feels lived-in from the start, natural Barenia would be my second choice.

A properly constructed strap, made with top-grade leather and solid stitching, lasts five to eight years of regular wear. A great deal depends on how it is treated: kept away from water, allowed to breathe between uses. Alligator and Barenia do not deteriorate — they transform, taking on the character of the person wearing them.

This Nautilus carries both a moon phase and a power reserve indicator — two complications sharing a case built around a precise, angular geometry. It was never a case designed to house complications: Patek made it work without altering the proportions of the original 1976 design. That is the detail I find most honest about this watch.
