I prefer Barenia or cordovan for this watch. The Pershing is both sporty and refined, architecturally minded — it needs leather that ages with character, that develops patina. Barenia especially dialogues well with the brushed steel, maturing over time.

It depends on wear: with care, 4-5 years of daily use, sometimes longer. Good leather ages, it doesn't fail — the colour deepens, the fibres soften. An advantage: if the strap wears, I rebuild the lugs and you keep the same seasoned leather.
