The lug width of the Oris Rectangular is 23mm. This non-standard dimension requires specific strap selection. To verify compatibility correctly, measure from the inside face of one lug to the other, perpendicularly, excluding the spring bars themselves.

There is no single 'best' choice, as selection depends on intended use and aesthetic preference. To complement the Art Déco character, we recommend noble leather — alligator or shell cordovan — in warm tones (cognac, bordeaux). For daily versatility, textile NATO in light grey or navy blue offers practicality whilst maintaining geometric elegance. For outdoor activities, black FKM rubber with nylon pass-through provides functional durability.

The Rectangular uses a standard spring-bar system. Obtain a strap-removal tool and position it under the spring bar, applying gentle upward pressure until the spring partially disengages. Grasp the bar with tweezers and extract fully. Align the new strap with the lug holes, reinsert both spring bars until the springs click into place. Verify both sides are securely locked before wearing.

All straps engineered with 23mm lug width are compatible with this model. We recommend selection from vegetable-tanned leather, alligator, calf leather, textile NATO (grey, blue, black), and FKM rubber options. Always verify the strap is certified 23mm and that case diameter creates no lateral stress on the spring bars.

A quality artisanal leather strap, with proper maintenance, lasts approximately 3–5 years with daily wear, or 7–10 years with alternating use. Durability depends on: frequency of use, direct solar exposure, humidity levels, skin perspiration, and tanning quality. Vegetable-tanned leather, whilst demanding greater care, offers superior longevity due to patina development. Occasional lubrication with neutral fats significantly extends useful life.
