The 38mm Speedmaster uses spring bar lugs: position the watch with the strap side facing upward, insert a spring bar tool into the lateral slot of the lug, compress slightly the internal spring of the lug to extract it from the seat, then remove the spring bar pin from the case. Repeat on the other side. To insert the new strap, align the lateral holes of the strap with the lugs, reinsert the spring bar pin and verify that both ends are well anchored. The operation takes a few minutes and requires no specialized tools.
