The lug width of this model is 20 mm. To verify compatibility, measure the distance between the two lugs at the ends of the case. This dimension allows the use of any strap designed for 20 mm interfaces, completely excluding undersized (18 mm) or oversized (22 mm) models.

The choice depends on the intended use. For formal contexts, black or dark brown alligator combines elegance and visual coherence with the wavy bezel. For everyday versatility, vegetable-tanned calf offers natural aging and comfort. If you keep the watch in aquatic environments, an FKM rubber strap preserves water-resistant performance; a NATO nylon strap remains the most reliable and neutral solution for any situation.

Remove the old strap by extracting the two lateral spring bars that pass through the case lugs. Use a precision tool (spring bar tool) to avoid damage. Insert the new strap through the same lugs, ensuring the spring bars pass perfectly into their housing. Never force the procedure: a strap that does not slide smoothly indicates a dimensional incompatibility.

Original Omega straps are specifically shaped for the case and spring bars, with proprietary finishes. Compatible aftermarket straps respect the 20 mm lug width and maintain identical construction tolerances, but often offer greater variety of materials (alligator, shell cordovan, special calves) and customization possibilities. The artisanal quality of a custom strap can exceed that of the standard strap originally supplied.

Durability depends on use and maintenance. A vegetable-tanned calf subjected to daily wear allows 3-5 years of comfortable use before requiring replacement; with care (avoiding frequent wetting and applying conditioner annually) it can reach 6-8 years. An alligator, denser and more resistant, offers superior durability (5-10 years). FKM rubber lasts beyond 10 years if regularly cleaned. No strap made of natural material is immortal, however: aging is part of its beauty.
