The lug width of the Tetra 472 is 18 mm. This dimension is specific to this case and is not compatible with standard 20 mm straps without adapters. Accurate measurement is essential: place a ruler between the upper and lower attachment points of the lugs on the case, in the free space between the lugs themselves.

For the Tetra 472, certified alligator straps, vegetable-tanned calf leather, or canvas NATO straps are recommended. Alligator emphasises the geometric sophistication of the design; vegetable-tanned calf develops distinctive patina over time; NATO offers contemporary practicality. Choice depends on intended use and desired aesthetic dialogue with the white dial.

Strap change is accomplished via the case's lever-type lugs. Position a springbar remover tool under the metal lever lug and press gently downward to release the internal spring. Remove the lug, then repeat on the opposite lug. Insert the new strap by aligning it with the guides and press until the lug lever clicks into place. This procedure requires precision and care to avoid case damage.

Any strap with an 18 mm lug width is compatible with the Tetra 472. Always verify this dimension from the supplier. Artisanal quality straps (alligator, shell cordovan, vegetable-tanned calf) are available through specialised ateliers. Avoid 20 mm straps as they alter the original design proportions.

Leather strap longevity depends on usage and tanning method. Vegetable-tanned calf typically lasts 3-5 years with daily wear, developing characteristic patina. Alligator offers similar or greater durability due to denser structure. A deployante clasp reduces lug wear, extending the strap's useful life. Regular maintenance (cleaning, occasional conditioning) significantly prolongs leather life.
