Strap for Tangente Datum

The Nomos Glashütte Tangente 107 is equipped with 18mm lugs. This measurement is specific to the 35mm case and is determined by the proportional relationship between case diameter and overall thickness. Measuring the lug width by referencing the internal spring bar seat ensures precise compatibility with aftermarket straps.

For the Tangente 107, we recommend vegetable-tanned alligator for formal contexts, as its natural vertical grain evolves over time without overwhelming the white dial. Shell cordovan offers rich patina development and structural durability. Chrome-tanned calf provides daily practicality, whilst a NATO in cordura maintains minimalist coherence for dynamic use. Vulcanised rubber is the technical choice for variable environments.

Use a dedicated spring bar removal tool with a pointed tip. Insert the tip under the spring bar, lift gently, and extract the bar from the lug. Position the spring bar into the new strap, aligning the holes precisely, then insert the bar into the lug. Verify the spring is fully seated to prevent accidental release during wear.

Any strap with an 18mm lug width is compatible with the Tangente 107. This is a standard measurement found in many artisanal collections. Always verify that the lug shoulder thickness (typically 4.5-5mm) matches the strap aperture, as the 35mm case of the Tangente requires precise proportions for optimal fit.

Durability depends on material and usage patterns. Vegetable-tanned alligator or shell cordovan last 5-8 years with daily wear, developing rich patina. Chrome-tanned calf lasts 3-5 years. Longevity increases significantly if the strap is not constantly exposed to moisture, direct heat, or excessive friction. NATO or vulcanised rubber straps can last 10+ years, offering superior durability at the expense of the tactile softness of leather.
