The Nomos Glashütte Orion 380 features a lug width of 19 millimetres. This measurement is precise and non-negotiable: any aftermarket strap must fit exactly within this dimension. We recommend measuring the internal distance between the lugs of your case before ordering a replacement strap.

To maintain the minimalist aesthetic integrity of the 380, we recommend a European calf leather with fine grain texture in neutral tones: light brown, black, or navy blue. Vegetable-tanned calf will develop natural patina over time. For athletic contexts, a NATO strap in grey or navy preserves geometric elegance without visual heaviness.

The strap is secured by 1.1mm spring bars. Use a dedicated spring bar tool: insert the tip into the lateral groove of one bar, compress inward to release tension, and extract the bar. Repeat for the opposite lug. Insert both ends of the new strap into the lug housings, and compress the spring bars until they click into place. This procedure typically requires 2-3 minutes for experienced hands.

Absolutely. High-quality aftermarket straps (leather, NATO, rubber) are fully compatible with the 380, provided the lug width is precisely 19 millimetres. Many collectors rotate straps seasonally: leather in winter, NATO in summer, alligator for formal occasions, adapting the watch to different contexts.

The lifespan of a calf leather strap depends on usage intensity and tanning quality. A high-grade vegetable-tanned calf strap, worn daily, typically lasts 3-5 years before significant wear (tears, thinning) emerges. In occasional use (1-2 times weekly), longevity extends to 8-10 years. NATO straps exhibit superior durability, lasting 7-10 years under intensive wear.
