Strap replacement is accomplished by removing the spring bars (horizontal pins) that connect the case to the lugs using a dedicated spring bar tool. Once removed, the old strap slides away naturally. Align the new 20mm strap's eyelet holes with the lugs, then reinsert the spring bars through both the lug holes and strap eyelets. Leather strap durability depends on tannery quality, tanning method (vegetable or chrome), and usage intensity. A calf leather strap with vegetable tanning typically lasts 3-5 years under daily wear before replacement becomes necessary. Alligator straps may extend to 5-7 years. Chrome-tanned calf generally exhibits lower durability expectations. Natural wear progression includes patina development (vegetable-tanned leathers), fibre thinning, and structural weakening. Regular conditioning with natural oils and protection from excessive humidity significantly extends functional lifespan.
