To verify compatibility with a strap, measure the gap between the lug seats using a digital calliper or ruler in millimetres, excluding the pin holes themselves from the measurement.

The optimal choice depends on your intended use. For competitive sailing with frequent immersion and saltwater exposure, we recommend an FKM (Viton) rubber strap in black or a Cordura NATO weave—both resist salt corrosion and dry quickly. The strap is secured to the lugs via two spring bar pins that travel horizontally. Use a dedicated spring bar tool or a flathead screwdriver to compress the internal spring of one pin, extracting it from its seat on the case. Repeat for the second pin. Insert both pins into the new strap's keeper slots, align the strap ends with the case lugs, and release: the pins should spring into place audibly. Verify symmetric seating on both sides before wearing.
