Changing the strap on the 10009 requires a specialised tool: a spring bar removal tool. Observing the strap from inside the case, you will notice a small spring (spring bar) that secures the strap to the lugs. Inserting the tool into one of the terminal holes of the spring bar and lifting gently, the spring compresses and the strap releases. The reverse procedure allows installation of the new strap. To avoid scratches, operate on a soft, protected surface.

The lifespan of a leather strap depends on the material and usage. Ordinary calf subjected to daily wear lasts approximately 2-3 years before requiring replacement. Vegetable-tanned alligator, thanks to fibre compactness, can last 3-5 years whilst maintaining good condition.
