I bring the watch to the bench, study the angles of the pink gold case and build every attachment by hand. There is no template: each strap is born from that specific watch.

I would go for an alligator with a semi-gloss finish, in a warm cognac brown or a deep burgundy. Pink gold has a precise character — warm, assertive — and a leather with body and controlled sheen accompanies it without overpowering it. I would avoid leathers that are too matte or too neutral: this watch has a strong presence and deserves a leather that keeps pace.

With normal care, five to eight years is a realistic horizon. Quality leather does not deteriorate: it ages, takes the shape of the wrist, develops a patina that tells the story of its use. I recommend keeping it away from prolonged contact with water and letting it breathe — no closed drawers or plastic bags.

The octagonal bezel with its eight visible hexagonal screws was, in 1972, a direct provocation to the industry: a watch in steel — and later gold — that displayed its fixing mechanism as an aesthetic element. Genta took the language of industry and brought it into fine watchmaking. The result is an object that makes no apologies for what it is.
