With ordinary care, five years is a reasonable minimum — often considerably more. I avoid direct water contact and store the watch off the strap when not wearing it. Quality leather does not deteriorate: it ages, gains character, tells the story of time worn. That is something I have learnt over years at the bench.

The case has five different finishing planes, with alternating convex and concave surfaces. Every transition between planes must be executed and checked by hand — a machine cannot distinguish those details. I have seen up close what it means to work on this geometry: the complexity is not decorative, it is structural. That is precisely why the strap must be built with the same level of care.
