Lambskin — softness from day one

Lambskin needs no breaking in. From day one, it flexes without resistance and conforms to the wrist without scratching. Fine grain, immediate. It's the material I choose when a thin profile matters as much as everything else.

Lambskin needs no breaking in. From day one, it follows the wrist without resistance, without scratching, without retaining moisture. It is the leather that Chanel and Balenciaga use for linings — fine grain, thin profile, patina that builds over time.

Available in 18, 20, and 22mm. Suitable for rotating dress watches: Nomos Club, Longines Elegant, Hamilton Jazzmaster. It's not an everyday leather without care — it's the right one for those who use it with awareness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is lamb leather durable enough for daily wear?

It depends on the use. For a dress watch worn in rotation — three or four times a week, never under the shower, away from prolonged sweat — lamb lasts for years. For intense daily wear, I'd prefer box calf or cordovan. Lamb has a softness no other leather has, but it deserves to be treated with respect.

Can I use lamb leather as a watch strap lining?

It's my preferred choice for linings on exotic leather straps. Lamb is soft against the wrist, doesn't scratch, doesn't retain moisture like nylon. The reduced thickness keeps the profile slim even on straps with exotic leather on the outside. For sensitive skin, it's the most comfortable lining I know.

Which watches do I pair with lamb leather?

Lamb leather goes on classic dress watches: Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, Patek Philippe Calatrava, IWC Portofino. On these watches, a black or anthracite grey lamb strap at 18mm is an elegant and understated choice. I avoid lamb on sports or diving watches — it's not the right environment, and it warps if it gets wet.

Why doesn't lamb leather need break-in?

Lamb fiber is short and compact, with a fine grain that doesn't resist bending. Vegetable tanning leaves it natural: no artificial stiffness to soften. From day one it adapts to your wrist. Available in 18, 20, and 22mm.

How do I clean a lamb leather strap without damaging it?

Dry cloth, applied gently. No water, no soaps. For suede, a soft brush dry — never against the grain. Every 2-3 months, nourishing cream without solvents, applied sparingly. Lamb doesn't forgive moisture, but kept this way, the patina improves for years.

Why doesn't lamb leather need break-in like calf?

The fiber structure is shorter and more compact than calf. It bends without resistance from day one. No time needed to soften it. Available from 18 to 22mm.

Can I order a custom lamb leather strap at the atelier?

Casati Milano, at Via XX Settembre 15, is where lamb is chosen by feel — to the touch, in the light, on your watch. Sizing is done together. Book via WhatsApp or by appointment. That's the only way.

How does lamb leather age with daily use?

Lamb leather develops patina with use. Lambskin fears moisture and scratches more easily than other leathers, but ages into a golden tone that improves the character of the strap. On 18-20mm sizes for dress watches worn in rotation, kept away from water and sweat, it lasts for years without losing softness.
