The lug width is 20 millimetres. This dimension is measured between the two horizontal attachments on the case, at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. All compatible straps must respect this tolerance to ensure a smooth fit without forcing.

There is no single best choice; it depends on use case. For formal contexts, alligator leather with natural patina offers elegance without compromise. For aquatic environments, vulcanised rubber remains the technical reference: it does not absorb moisture and dries rapidly. Vegetable-tanned leather provides a patina that evolves over time, enriching the sportive aesthetic of the case.

Use a spring bar remover (tool with a bifurcated tip) to gently lift the horizontal pins securing the strap to the case lugs. Insert the tip of the remover into the groove beneath each lug, then extract the pin. Work one side at a time to avoid twisting the case. Install the new 20mm strap by aligning the terminals with the recesses on the lugs and reinserting the pins until they click into place.

All straps with a 20mm lug width are compatible with the WAP111Y.BA0831, regardless of material: leather (alligator, calf, shell cordovan), rubber, NATO fabric, stainless steel. Always verify that the terminals fit smoothly into the case attachments without lateral play.

The lifespan of a leather strap depends on intensity of use and exposure to water and humidity. With standard maintenance (air-drying after saltwater contact, conditioning every 6-12 months), a calf or alligator strap lasts 3-5 years. Vegetable-tanned leather develops a patina that masks ageing. For an Aquaracer frequently used in water, vulcanised rubber remains the most durable choice.
