The TAG Heuer Aquaracer CAF101F.FT8011 features a lug width of 20 millimetres. This measurement refers to the distance between the two attachment points on the case where the strap connects. Compatible straps must have exactly this width to ensure precise fitment and zero play at the lugs.

Selection depends on intended usage. For formal contexts, a black alligator strap with cream-coloured stitching delivers elegance whilst maintaining the watch's sports heritage. For frequent marine environments, FKM rubber ensures durability and practical maintenance. A vegetable-tanned calf leather represents the ideal compromise between aesthetics and versatility, developing a natural patina over time that enriches the timepiece visually.

Removal involves extracting the two spring bars positioned at the lug attachments. Use a dedicated watch tool (spring bar tool) or, alternatively, a small flat lever. Press the bar towards the centre to release the attachment hole, then slide the previous strap away. Insert the new strap, aligning it with the holes, then reinsert the bars by pressing until the click of closure is felt. This operation requires care to avoid scratching the case.

Any strap with a 20mm lug width is compatible with the CAF101F.FT8011, regardless of material (leather, rubber, fabric, Cordura canvas). Selection should consider case diameter (43mm) and strap thickness: for harmonious proportions, we recommend thicknesses between 3.5 and 4.5 millimetres. Length must cover the wrist from the innermost adjustment hole to the outermost, typically 8-10 holes for regulation.

A quality leather strap, under moderate use, typically lasts 18-36 months before requiring replacement. Longevity depends on factors including water exposure, humidity, frequency of wear, and maintenance practices. Shell cordovan or vegetable-tanned calf straps with generous thicknesses (1.4-1.6mm) tend to last considerably longer than thin leathers. Prolonged exposure to saltwater accelerates deterioration; for intensive marine environments, FKM rubber offers significantly superior service life.
