I favour Mississippi alligator or French Barenia. This Kalpa is a tool of decisive character, asymmetrical, sporty beneath its elegance—it needs a leather that keeps pace, that ages with personality and stands up to motion. Barenia especially patinas visibly, building a story on your wrist.

With care, between five and ten years of daily wear, depending on the stress you put it through and how you treat the leather. Good alligator or French Barenia won't tear—it ages. Keep it away from extreme heat and prolonged moisture. When its time comes, bring it back to the atelier: we reverse it, or build a new one from the measurements we already have.

Because the asymmetrical tonneau case is Michel Parmigiani's visual manifesto—a challenge to the conventions of traditional watchmaking. Every curve, every integrated lug speaks to a precise architectural choice. Fitting it with a generic strap would betray that geometry. It needs craftsmanship that speaks to the sculpture, not conceals it.
