I favour Mississippi Alligator. The natural scale pattern follows the tonneau case shape, creates continuity with the steel. If you want something softer and more visible ageing, hot-moulded Barenia embraces the wrist curve differently — less formal, more tactile. It depends on how you want to wear it.

A quality strap lasts years — 5, 6, sometimes more, if the leather is noble. It depends on how you treat it: avoid concentrated sweat, let it air-dry after rain. Leather ages, darkens, becomes softer. That's not a flaw, it's the story of how you've worn it.

Because the lugs aren't parallel. They're designed to follow the asymmetrical curve that Michel Parmigiani calculated according to the golden section. A generic strap won't sit properly on the wrist, won't align with the case. Building it bespoke means respecting that geometry, not fighting it.
