The Oris Classic 28.5mm model features a 14mm lug width—a specific dimension that reflects the case's constructive proportions and makes it incompatible with standard 16mm or 18mm straps. This measurement must be taken precisely from the centre of the upper spring bar pin to the centre of the lower spring bar pin.

For the Classic 01 561 7718 4075, our atelier prioritises dark brown or burgundy shell cordovan, a material that develops natural patina and creates elegant dialogue with the case's satin-brushed steel. Alternatively, vegetable-tanned calf leather in dark brown with stainless steel deployante offers documented longevity of 4-5 years, or black buttero rubber with fine grain for summer wear whilst maintaining formal restraint.

The procedure requires two tools: a spring bar tool (lug removal lever) and a clean, well-lit workspace. Insert the lever tip into the upper spring bar pin's groove, apply gentle downward pressure to compress the internal spring, then slide the strap towards you. Repeat on the lower pin. Installing the new strap reverses this process: compress the pin, align the lug seats, then release pressure so the spring engages securely.

Only straps with 14mm lugs are compatible. Any material (leather, textile, rubber, metal) works provided the interlug distance is precisely 14mm. Buttero rubber, if exposed to temperature extremes, resists 3-4 years. Visual ageing (patina, tone shifts) does not signify functional deterioration.
