Strap for Tangomat Norma

The lug width of the Tangomat 629 is 20 mm. This measurement is determined by the proportions of the 38.3 mm case and represents a classical standard faithful to Glashütte's watchmaking tradition. A 20 mm strap fits perfectly between the lugs without lateral play or unwanted protrusions.

For the Tangomat 629, a vegetable-tanned alligator strap in cognac colour is recommended, as it harmonises naturally with the brushed case and silver dial. Alternatively, a brown tobacco calf leather or navy cotton NATO offer versatility while maintaining the model's elegance. Dark FKM rubber is suitable for daily and sporting wear.

The Tangomat 629 strap is changed by extracting the lug pins with a specialised tool. Position the tool's blade in the slot carved into the lug and gently push the pin outward. Repeat on the other side and remove the worn strap. Insert the new strap by aligning the holes and pushing the pins until they lock completely.

Quality aftermarket straps guarantee dimensional compatibility (20 mm) but offer greater variety in materials, finishes and colours compared to original Nomos straps. A well-crafted vegetable-tanned aftermarket strap develops a patina over time that harmonises with the case patina, creating an aesthetic harmony often superior to industrially-produced straps.

A quality leather strap, especially one made with vegetable tanning, has an average lifespan of 5-8 years with daily wear and proper maintenance. The natural patina that develops makes the strap increasingly beautiful. Wear is most rapid in stress zones (keeper and buckle). Regular conditioning with natural waxes significantly extends longevity.
