Strap replacement requires a spring bar remover tool (small dual-tipped screwdriver) or dedicated extractor. Position the watch face-down on a soft surface. Insert the flat tip of the tool under the spring bar from one side, applying gentle outward pressure until the pin compresses. Remove the old strap and insert the new one by aligning the holes. Repeat on the other side. Verify that the spring bar is perfectly seated to prevent accidental loss.

Durability depends on material and usage. An alligator or shell cordovan strap, with ordinary care (drying after water exposure, protection from direct heat), maintains structural integrity between 3 and 5 years of daily wear.
