What strap size does the IWC Big Pilot IW5010-01 take?

The IWC Big Pilot IW5010-01 needs 22 mm between the lugs, usually 18 or 20 mm at the buckle. It's the size I've been fitting on it for years.

Can the strap on the IWC Big Pilot IW5010-01 be changed?

Yes. It has spring bars between the lugs: with the right tool the strap comes off in a minute. If you'd rather not risk a scratch, I do it in the workshop.

The IWC Big Pilot was developed as an aviation watch with a large case and oversized crown to facilitate use with gloves. It mounts the IWC 52110 automatic caliber with indication of hours, minutes, seconds, date and power reserve. The 22mm lugs complete the construction oriented towards aeronautical functionality.

Good quality alligator has superior durability, 5-7 years. Shell cordovan, thanks to the density of horse leather, can last 7-10 years. Longevity depends on climate, humidity, frequency of use and maintenance. Regular maintenance (cleaning with soft cloth, annual conditioning) significantly extends useful life.
