This width is standard across the Breitling Professional line in the 46-millimetre range and is compatible with quality-built aftermarket straps designed for this specific dimension.

The ideal material depends on application: for formal contexts and civil aviation, natural or black alligator offers elegance and dimensional stability. For environments with humidity and thermal cycling, vegetable-tanned calf develops a protective patina. For tactical operations or rapid changeover, black or charcoal grey NATO is the functional choice. Vulcanised rubber (FKM/Viton) remains the solution for high-chemical-exposure environments.

The Breitling Cockpit B50 uses straight lugs at 24 millimetres. To change: position the watch on a soft surface with the lug side facing upwards. Use a spring bar tool to compress the internal spring mechanism, then extract the pin. Repeat on the opposite side. Insert the new strap, aligning the pins and verifying complete spring closure. If using a deployante, close it only after the strap is perfectly positioned.

Any quality-built strap with 24-millimetre width is compatible, provided the strap lug is dimensioned for 24-millimetre pins. We advise against generic 24-millimetre low-quality straps: the tolerance between pin and lug must be precise (±0.3 mm) to avoid excessive play. Determining factors include rotation frequency (a strap used three days weekly lasts twice as long), direct sunlight exposure (ages fibres), humidity and perspiration (softens leather). Periodic maintenance with beeswax extends lifespan by 1–2 years.
