Frequently asked questions
Can a strap be fitted to the Royal Oak Offshore 26571BC.OO.A002CA.01?
The bracelet is integrated into the case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. It is a closed architectural design, conceived by Genta and taken further by Gueit. In the atelier I build the attachment bespoke, directly on the watch.
How does the bespoke strap process work for this Royal Oak Offshore?
I work by appointment only, at Casati Milano, Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements from the actual case — not from technical sheets — and shape every element of the attachment by hand. It is the only way to respect the octagonal geometry of this watch.
Which leather do I recommend for this model?
For a Royal Oak Offshore in white gold I choose Mississippi Alligator. The sporting, assertive character of this watch calls for a leather with visible structure, not a flat surface. Alligator ages with personality and holds its own against the presence of the case without fading into the background.
How long does a well-made strap last?
A strap built with selected leather and solid stitching easily lasts five or six years of daily wear — longer still if kept away from water and allowed to dry after perspiration. Quality leather does not deteriorate: it changes, takes on the shape of the wrist, and tells the story of the time worn. That is one of the things I value most about this craft.
Who designed the Royal Oak Offshore and what sets it apart from the original Royal Oak?
The Royal Oak Offshore was created in 1993 by Emmanuel Gueit, who took Gérald Genta's architectural vision and pushed it towards bolder proportions and a stronger physical presence. Compared to the original Royal Oak, the Offshore has a 44mm octagonal case and a more overtly sporting character. It is not simply a larger version: it is a different reading of the same formal language.
