The lug attachment on this model is an integral part of the case architecture: the proprietary geometry of the lugs does not allow a standard straight-bar strap to be inserted. The process begins in the atelier with the watch physically present: the craftsman measures the actual geometry of the attachment, the curvature of the lugs and the proportions of the case. The leather is then selected, cut and shaped around those real dimensions rather than theoretical specifications. Stitching, edge finishing, thickness at the keeper and closure type are all agreed during the same session, producing a strap that fits with precision and maintains visual coherence with the case.

The titanium-and-black-ceramic combination of this reference pairs naturally with leathers of a resolute character: matte black or anthracite florida-grain calf, which complements the ceramic without competing with it, or shell cordovan for a more formal register thanks to its dense, burnished surface. A tobacco brown introduces a measured chromatic contrast. In every case, texture and finish should be assessed against the actual case, not a photograph.

A strap built from top-grade leather with wax-finished edges and solid stitching will comfortably last five to eight years of daily wear, developing a personal patina over time that adds to its character. Longevity also depends on leather type — shell cordovan, owing to its compact fibrous structure, generally outlasts calf — and on routine care: avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture and treating the leather periodically with a neutral conditioner.

The calibre 3126/3840 is an in-house Audemars Piguet movement combining the 3126 automatic base with the 3840 column-wheel chronograph module. This architecture delivers a clean dial layout and a precise, satisfying push-button action.
