Strap for Royal Oak OffShore Lady Chronograph Pink Gold / Silver / Bartorelli

The bracelet on this Royal Oak Offshore is integrated into the case: there are no standard lugs to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The attachment system is proprietary to Audemars Piguet. In the atelier I build every element to measure, directly on the watch, millimetre by millimetre.

I work exclusively by appointment at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case and build the attachment by hand-shaping every geometric join. I never work from photographs or technical sheets: the watch must be here, in front of me.

For an Offshore in rose gold my choice goes to naturally aged Barenia. It has a warm hand that speaks to the rose gold without mimicking it, and over time it develops a patina that tells the story of use rather than hiding it. For those who want a more sporting character, selected Mississippi Alligator holds the octagonal geometry well and stands up to the years without losing its shape.

A strap built properly, with first-choice leather and hand-sewn stitching, easily lasts five, even eight years of regular wear. The leather needs feeding two or three times a year with natural waxes — nothing aggressive. It ages, changes colour, moulds to the wrist: I do not call that a flaw, it is exactly what I expect from a genuine hide.

Yes, and you can see it immediately. In 1993 Audemars Piguet took Gérald Genta's octagonal architecture — already radical in 1972 — and pushed it towards more muscular, more physical proportions. This 37mm rose gold version picks up that same logic and brings it to a more compact scale, without losing the decisive character that sets every Offshore apart from the generation before it.
