Frequently asked questions
Can a standard strap be fitted to the Royal Oak Offshore 26214ST.OO.1150ST.01?
No. The bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there is no standard lug to which an off-the-shelf strap can be attached. The attachment is proprietary, designed to merge with the octagonal geometry of the case. In the atelier I build every strap to measure, directly on the watch.
How does the bespoke strap service work for this Royal Oak Offshore?
Everything is done by appointment at Casati Milano, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements from the actual case and shape the attachment by hand, respecting the curve and depth of the octagonal bezel. There is no template: every piece is built from scratch on that specific watch.
Which leather do I recommend for this model?
For a watch with this character — substantial case, sporting nature, strong presence — I favour Mississippi Alligator with a wide scale. It holds the wrist, ages with personality and is not overwhelmed by the structure of the case. If something drier and more understated is preferred, natural Barenia is my second choice: it softens over time and develops a patina that speaks of use.
How long does a well-made strap last?
With quality leather and proper construction, I comfortably expect five to eight years of regular use. Care is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged exposure to water, let it air-dry if it gets wet, and apply a neutral conditioner occasionally. Vegetable-tanned leathers like Barenia genuinely improve with the years — the patina that forms is part of the piece's value, not a flaw.
What makes the Royal Oak Offshore aesthetically different from the original Royal Oak?
The Offshore was born in 1993 as a deliberate amplification of Gérald Genta's design language: the case is more substantial, the bolted octagonal bezel more pronounced, and the architectural depth of the whole is designed to assert itself. It is not a timid evolution — it is a design statement that occupies space, on the wrist and in the eye of the beholder. I have seen many sporting steel watches; few achieve this visual density without appearing overloaded.
