I work through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case, and build the attachments by hand to respect the octagonal geometry of the pink gold case. No templates: every strap is built from scratch for that specific watch.

I recommend matte alligator. The Royal Oak Offshore has a sporting character, but the pink gold case still calls for a leather with substance. Matte alligator balances the two sides of this watch without overwhelming the wrist. I avoid glossy leathers: on this model they feel like a misstep.

A strap built from quality leather and hand-stitched will easily last five to seven years of daily wear, sometimes longer. Leather changes over time: it softens, takes on the shape of the wrist, develops a character of its own. Care is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged exposure to water and condition the leather occasionally with a suitable cream.

The Royal Oak Offshore was born in 1993 as a radical evolution of Gérald Genta's original design. It retains the octagonal architecture and integrated bracelet, but reinterprets the proportions for a more contemporary use. I have seen many Offshores on the bench over the years: the 37mm pink gold case is the one that best manages to hold sporting character and material quality together. It is not a compromise — it is a deliberate choice of personality.
