Strap for Royal Oak Selfwinding 34 Stainless Steel / Diamond / Blue / Bracelet

Not in the conventional sense. The bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The only viable route is a bespoke strap, built around the watch itself, at the atelier.

I work exclusively through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. I take measurements directly from the case at the bench and build the strap around its actual geometry. There are no templates: every piece starts from scratch.

For this model, I choose aged Barenia. Its structure works well with the steel case: never too formal, never too sporty. Over time it develops a patina that tells the story of wear, and on a watch with this architecture, that feels like the most honest choice.

With minimal care — keeping it away from prolonged water exposure and letting it dry naturally — a quality leather strap lasts for years. I have seen Barenias worn daily for seven or eight years grow more beautiful with time. Good leather does not deteriorate: it evolves. It is poor tanning that ages badly.

Gérald Genta brought steel into a world where gold was the only currency. It was a contrarian choice, almost provocative. I have seen dozens of watches try to replicate that tension between geometric rigour and material lightness. Few manage it. When I build a strap for this watch, I keep that coherence in mind: nothing superfluous, everything in its place.
