Strap for Royal Oak Selfwinding 34 Stainless Steel / Silver / Bracelet

The bracelet is integrated into the case: a standard strap has no way of attaching. The lug system is proprietary, built around the octagonal geometry of the case. At the atelier, I make it to measure, directly on the watch, millimetre by millimetre.

The service takes place at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench and take measurements directly from the case, with no approximations. Every attachment is shaped to work with the original form: no adapters, no compromises.

For a watch with a sporting character but built with architectural rigour, I prefer naturally aged Barenia. It develops a patina with wear, softens over time, and takes on a personality no other leather can replicate. It is the most honest choice for a watch designed to be worn every day.

A strap built from quality leather with solid stitching easily lasts five, even ten years of regular wear. Care is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged exposure to water and let it breathe between uses. Good leather does not deteriorate — it transforms, and becomes more beautiful with time.

I have held many steel watches from the Seventies in my hands. The Royal Oak is different: Gérald Genta took a material considered ordinary and turned it into something the industry had not yet imagined. The octagonal case with its exposed bezel and the Tapisserie dial are not decoration — they are structure. It is a coherent design right down to the last screw.
