Strap for Royal Oak Selfwinding 34 Stainless Steel / Red Gold / Silver / Bracelet

The bracelet is integrated into the case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The attachment is proprietary, designed to work with that specific octagonal geometry. In the atelier I build the strap directly on the watch, measuring every curve of the case by hand.

I work through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements from the original case and build the attachment from scratch. This is not about adapting an existing strap: every piece is made for that specific watch.

I recommend naturally aged Barenia. The Royal Oak sits between technical rigour and sporting elegance, and Barenia responds well to both. Over time it develops a personal patina that pairs well with the steel case. It is the choice I would make for myself.

A strap built with top-quality leathers and the right proportions will easily last five to seven years of daily wear. Care matters: a little nourishing cream now and then, and keeping it away from water consistently. The leather does not deteriorate — it evolves. The micro-folds and patina are a sign that the strap has lived alongside the person wearing it.

Gérald Genta drew it in 1972 and broke with everything that existed before: a sports case in steel with an octagonal bezel, visible hexagonal screws and an integrated bracelet. Nobody had built a watch quite like that with those materials and that shape. Over the years I have seen many attempts to imitate that geometry — none of them hold up against the coherence of the original.
