The bracelet is integrated into the case: the attachment is proprietary and a standard strap simply does not fit. This is not a limitation — it is a precise design decision by Genta. In the atelier, I build every strap directly on the watch, made to measure.

I work through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench and take measurements from the case itself — not from technical sheets or catalogues. Every element is shaped by hand to integrate with the octagonal rose gold case geometry.

I recommend wide-scale Mississippi Alligator in warm tones such as cognac or tobacco. The Royal Oak has a sporting character, but the rose gold case pushes it towards a more refined reading: alligator holds both identities without surrendering to either. I have seen combinations with naturally aged Barenia that become remarkable over time.

With quality leather and basic care, I count five years of daily wear as a normal threshold — often longer. I recommend keeping it away from water and letting it breathe in rotation with a second strap. Alligator and Barenia do not simply show wear: they carry it, and with time they gain real character.

Gérald Genta drew it in 1972 in a single night, starting from the shape of a diver's helmet. Before that moment, a sports watch in steel — or rose gold — at that price was unthinkable. The octagonal bezel with exposed hexagonal screws is not decoration: it is structure, the construction showing itself. I have seen many watches at the bench; few have such a coherent building logic from the outside in.
