Strap for Royal Oak Self-Winding Flying Tourbillon Titanium / Emerald / Green

The bracelet on this Royal Oak is integrated directly into the case: there is no standard lug to attach an off-the-shelf strap. The connection is proprietary and the octagonal geometry leaves no room for approximation. The only viable option is to build the strap to measure, starting from the physical watch. I do this in the atelier, by hand, every time.

I work through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take the measurements directly from the case, and build the attachment millimetre by millimetre. I do not use templates: every Royal Oak has its own character and the join must be invisible, not approximate.

For a watch that combines titanium and white gold, I lean towards Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather: it has a sober, almost technical quality that speaks well to the sporting character of the case without tipping into heavy formality. If the client wants something that structures itself more firmly over time, Mississippi alligator with symmetrical scales holds up better across the years. It depends on how the watch is worn, and I can judge that by looking at the wrist.

A strap built with quality leather and the right structure lasts five, eight, even ten years with proper care. The care itself is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged water exposure, let it dry if it gets wet, apply a neutral cream occasionally. Leather ages: it develops a patina that tells the story of its use, which is not a flaw. That is the difference between a strap that becomes yours and one that remains merely an accessory.

The eight hexagonal screws are the architectural signature that Gérald Genta drew in 1972: they secure the octagonal bezel and give the Royal Oak its structural identity. That geometry extends all the way to the integrated bracelet attachment, following the same logic of visual continuity. When I build the strap, I must respect that line: an attachment that breaks the flow of the case betrays the original design. That is why I accept no compromise on the form.
