Strap for Royal Oak Chronograph 41 Pink Gold / Blue / Alligator

The Royal Oak's bracelet is integrated into the case: there is no standard lug to attach a traditional strap. The attachment is part of the original design, conceived to work in unison with the pink gold case. To replace the bracelet with a leather strap, the only viable route is to build one bespoke, directly on the watch, in the atelier.

I work exclusively by appointment at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case, and hand-shape the leather attachment until it flows naturally with the octagonal geometry. There are no templates: every strap is made for that specific watch.

For a pink gold Royal Oak, my choice is naturally aged Barenia. It has a texture that gradually moulds to the wrist and develops a warm patina that complements the pink gold tone without competing with it. It is a leather that tells the story of use — and a Royal Oak deserves exactly that kind of narrative on its strap.

A strap built from top-grade leather and hand-stitched will comfortably last five, even eight years of regular wear. Leather asks for modest care: keep it away from prolonged exposure to water and condition it occasionally with a neutral wax. A well-tended Barenia does not deteriorate — it transforms, and often improves.

The Royal Oak was designed with a bracelet that flows as an extension of the case: the transition between the two is seamless, with no visual break. When replacing the bracelet with a strap, that continuity must be rebuilt by hand, respecting the case's curvature and the eight hexagonal screws that define its character. I have seen many attempts made without this attention — and it always shows.
