Strap for Royal Oak Chronograph 41 Pink Gold / Haute Joaillerie

On this Royal Oak, the bracelet is integrated into the pink gold case. A standard strap has no way of attaching: the lug is part of the watch's own architecture. At the atelier I build every strap to measure, directly on the client's watch.

I work on this model exclusively through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case with my own instruments, and build the attachment by hand so it integrates naturally with the original octagonal form. I do not work from photographs or technical sheets — I need the watch in front of me.

For a watch with this character — sporting in its architecture, precious in its material — I prefer Mississippi alligator with a glossy finish on the top layer. The natural warmth of pink gold finds a balance with alligator texture that smooth leather alone cannot achieve. My second choice would be aged Barenia: it tells the years with quiet dignity, without competing with the metal.

A strap built with first-grade leather and hand-stitched easily lasts five to seven years with regular wear. The key is care: keep leather away from water, apply a small amount of neutral cream each season. Alligator ages with character — it changes, it does not deteriorate. I have clients who bring theirs back after years simply for a fresh painted edge.

Gérald Genta drew it in 1972, reportedly in a single night. The octagonal case with exposed hexagonal screws was a direct provocation: sporting steel at the price of a gold watch. The guilloché 'tapisserie' dial is not decoration — it is a structural choice that shifts the light on the watch with every movement of the wrist. I have seen many watches at the bench over the years: few have a geometry this consistent from every angle.
