Strap for Royal Oak Chronograph 41 Yellow Gold / Silver

Not in the conventional sense. The bracelet is an integral part of the case: a standard strap has no way of attaching. The only viable route is to build a bespoke attachment directly on the watch, at the atelier.

I work by appointment only, at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take every measurement directly from the original case and build the attachment millimetre by millimetre. There is no template: each piece is made for that specific watch.

I recommend Mississippi Alligator with an extra-large scale pattern. Yellow gold has a bold, almost monumental character, and it calls for a leather that can hold its own. Alternatively, natural Barenia is the choice for those who prefer a slow, warm ageing that sits in chromatic harmony with the gold.

With basic care — keeping it away from prolonged exposure to water, letting it breathe between wearings — I comfortably reach ten years of use. Noble leathers such as Alligator or Barenia do not deteriorate: they transform. The patina they develop over time tells the story of wear, not neglect.

The eight visible hexagonal screws on the octagonal bezel were not a decorative whim: in 1972 they were a technical provocation. Gérald Genta brought the language of industrial steel into high watchmaking. What still strikes you when you hold it is the consistency: every element of the case speaks to the others without decorative concession.
