Strap for Royal Oak Chronograph 39 Yellow Gold / Diamond / Strap

The bracelet on this Royal Oak is integrated directly into the case: there is no standard lug to attach a conventional strap. The architecture was designed that way from the very beginning. In the atelier I build every connecting element to measure, studying the octagonal attachment geometry directly on the watch.

I work by appointment only at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements from the case with my own tools, and shape every component by hand. There are no templates: each strap is born from that specific piece.

For this model I choose naturally aged Barenia. Over time it develops an almost mineral quality that works well alongside the cool luminosity of white gold. Mississippi Alligator is the alternative when a stronger contrast of textures is wanted, while maintaining the same material dignity.

A strap built from first-quality leather and worked by hand easily lasts ten years, sometimes more. Care is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged exposure to water and condition the leather every few months. Barenia in particular ages by gaining character, not losing it.

In 1972 Gérald Genta did something against the grain: he took a sports watch and built it in noble steel, with a bolted octagonal case that referenced deep-sea diving helmets. The integrated bracelet is not an accessory — it is part of the structure. When I work on a Royal Oak, I always start by studying that octagonal geometry. Everything else follows from there.
